Sometimes you need to be quiet around your friends and family, but Amazons Alexa is notorious for being loud at the worst times. Luckily, you can make Alexa whisper & make her responses a lot shorter than normal.

Whether it’s early in the morning and you need the lights on without waking people or you have a baby you don’t want to disturb, you can turn on Alexa’s Brief Mode and Whisper Mode.

Turning on Brief mode is extremely easy, Brief mode shortens Alexa’s responses and remove confirmations of commands. You can turn this on by saying “Alexa, Turn on Brief Mode” or follow these steps on your Smart Device:

  • Open the Alexa App on your Android or iPhone.
  • Tap the three lines in the bottom right of your screen that says “More”
  • Tap on “Settings”
  • Tap on “Voice Responses”
  • Slide Brief Mode till the background changes and the orb moves to the right
  • You can also put Alexa into “Whisper Mode” in the same menu.

You can also enable Whisper mode by whispering commands to Alexa, however, this can be quite hit or miss and is easier done when enabled from the settings menu.
